Confessions Of A Fashion Fanatic
It's 4 am, and I am up as usual with a lot on my mind...been a while since I've actually written a mini journal entry on the blog but hey, whatev. So anywhoo, let's talk about labels. When I say labels I don't mean the tag sticking out the back of your shirt, but the category in which one would identify with style wise. I feel that too often people get stuck in a box after slapping names on themselves like 'hipster' or 'boho' you know, things to that nature. Don't get me wrong, there are characteristics that determine a certain type of style, but do not allow that to dictate what you should or shouldn't wear. You can be 'homeless chic' in a shiny pair of patent leather shoes with that ragged plaid top, who says they have to be scuffed? There are no stone written rules when it comes to style, so I say have fun and experiment. Speaking from personal experience, It's tough when you are still in that stage of trying to figure out exactly what category you fit into but aslong as you know what you like and don't like the rest is history. Hell, I am inspired by a number of things from Glam Rock bands to Diana Ross to Barbie who knows where I fall! We as people are influenced by so many elements in our daily environment like art, celebrities, music, or simply people sitting across from us on the train. Enjoy the beauty of it all and let everything that inspires you shine through. Never limit yourself! Ciao, xoxo.

TGIP: Thank God It's Pay Day!

Ladies, it's finally Friday which means that hard earned paycheck will be waiting for you at the bank or at work, so it's time to shop! Will that money go towards your Fall wardrobe or your Summer wardrobe? It's quite difficult to pass on a lovely blouse you can wear now in your favorite boutique, trust me I know the feeling. Since we still have over a month remaining of the warm season, there is still time to squeeze in a new romper or destructed tee. Rock out to beach side concerts and rooftop dinners this weekend in these casual finds:

Armani Prive Fall 2009
For those who don't already know, I am a huge fan of Armani. Every year I look forward to his collections! He's been taking the world by storm, specifically for his immaculately tailored suits in which became his ultimate signature design during the 1980's. Power dressing at it's finest! A few years back in 2005 he started a couture collection called Armani Prive filled with nothing but rich fabrics, sleek structure, and shimmering details. I live! The Fall 2009 collection included pants suits, furs, above-knee skirts, floor length gowns, onesies, and more in monochrome shades of Black, White, Metallic Grey with splashes of Cream and Blue. Models strutted the catwalk with razor jet Black hair (or I'd like to call it Rihanna hair), chunky necklaces, boxy chain strap purses or beaded/sequined berets, elegant pointed toe pumps. Take a look at my picks:

The Jacksons In Versace

In honor of Michael Jackson's passing, the entire Jackson family (including the children) wore custom made Versace outfits to his memorial service this morning. According to In Style, Jackson was a huge fan of the later Gianni Versace's clothing rocking them both on and off the stage for years. Janet Jackson contacted Donatella personally to make sure the family was draped in her designs. Above is Janet pictured with sisters Rebbie and LaToya. Rest in Peace to the King. Love you, and we all miss you!

Treasure Du Jour: Alex and Ani Jewelry
As we become more environmentally concious in our way of life, it's important to be aware of the little big things affecting us day by day. It can be as simple as the bangles thrown onto our tiny wrists or rings on our fingers. No one said the task of searching for the perfect accessories while remaining respectful to earth was easy, but there are wonderful designers out there who are hip to this big shift. With that said, meet Carolyn Rafaelian, the creative force behind Alex and Ani Jewelry.

Alex and Ani is an eco-friendly contemporary jewelry company on the come up. Oh, but this isn't just any line of jewelry, each peice is handcrafted with recycled metals creating an eclectic selection of bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings, and even hair accesories based around Carolyn's ideas of spirituality and strength. So boho chic and unconventional, these works of art add earthy charm to any outfit. In addition to being uber swanky and eco-friendly, a portion of Alex and Ani's profits are donated to Charities...ahh yes the gift of giving! Widely recognized publications have already recognized Rafaelian's designs including ELLE, In Style, Glamour and also adorned the likes of Vanessa Hudgens, Cameron Diaz and others. Now it's time for you to join the movement of fashion and environmental awareness. Here are my favorites:
